So What Does Dr. Alexander Do?

Dr. Kathryn Alexander, D. C., has practiced at Ridgely Retreat since 2007.  Her practice is unique in several ways:

  • Focus on Applied Kinesiology:  AK was developed by George Goodheart, D. C.  and includes several different modalities to help the body heal.  At the heart of AK is the manual muscle test (MMT) which is used as a feedback mechanism to find out how the body is out of balance.  Reflex and acupressure points, cranial-sacral, soft tissue release, nutrition, and spinal adjusting are used to help the body heal.  AK is effective for a wide range of conditions, from foot pain to TMJ to digestive problems.
  • Adjusting Techniques:  Dr. Alexander uses the Arthrostim, an adjusting instrument, or the Van Rumpt technique (very light manual adjustment).  She does not use  standard chiropractic osseous techniques (i.e. no “cracking”).
  • Lebowitz Desensitization Technique:  This was developed by Michael Lebowitz, D. C.  Muscle testing using homeopathic vials is used to address dysbiosis as well as food and environmental sensitivities (NOT a substitute for medical treatment).  Ayurvedic and Chinese herbs are prescribed as needed.
  • Foot Levelers Orthotics:  This is a softer custom orthotic, developed by a chiropractor.  Support for all three arches of the foot helps adjustments hold longer.  Many cases of knee, hip, and low back pain are due to the feet being imbalanced.   These orthotics come as inserts, flip flops, sandals, or shoes.  They all carry a money-back guarantee.
  • Myofascial and Edema Release: The Vibracussor, which was developed by osteopath Robert Fulford, and the Graston Technique are both very effective for strains, sprains, fascial restrictions and scar tissue.  They are helpful in relieving lymphedema that can be experienced after breast surgery, as well as releasing post-surgical scars.
  • Low Level Light Therapy (Cold Laser):  Used to help reduce inflammation and speed soft tissue healing.  Effective on sprains, strains, injured discs and arthritic joints.

The purpose of treatment is to help each patient reach his or her goals, whether it be to reduce pain, improve function, or reach better health.  Dr. Alexander  offers a complimentary 15-minute initial consultation to determine if what she does can help you.  She can be reached at 443-433-0463.
