What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic was founded in 1895, by Daniel David Palmer. It is based on the philosophy that correcting subtle spinal misalignments (vertebral subluxations) promotes the body’s ability to self-heal. There are many different chiropractic techniques, but all working with re-balancing the nervous system via spinal manipulation. Chiropractic has been shown to be effective for conditions such as back and neck pain; however, many other conditions, such as inflamed discs, TMJ, and digestive disorders, respond well.
Dr. Kathryn Alexander, DC, operates a unique holistic chiropractic practice in that she uses low-force techniques such as DNFT, Applied Kinesiology, Sacro-Occipital Technique, and Graston. They differ from “mainstream” chiropractic techniques in several ways:
- No “snapping” or “cracking”
- Whole-body approach
- Incorporation of craniosacral, acupressure, and nutrition modalities.
Dr. Alexander’s goal is to work with each client to develop a program of care to help them reach their health goals. This can improving overall function as well as reducing pain.
